Evan's Collection

Where you’re from:
Orleans, Massachusetts
The first watch that moved you:
Seiko 7A28-7000.
Why:
It’s the watch worn by Sigourney Weaver in the movie “Aliens.” I saw that movie way too young and still love it to this day. It's a watch from the 80’s that somehow fits into the retro future aesthetic of the film set in 2179. Her watch is such a small part of her costuming but it got a few good shots where it was front and center of the scene. At one point, I did a deep dive into the costuming of the movie and was excited to find out it’s a real watch and not just a prop made for her.
Day-to-day:
As head of the restoration department, I oversee the other members of the team and to restore watches to factory condition. I’m responsible for maintaining the quality of the watches we deliver to our customers – from initial inspections upon receiving new pieces, to installing different straps and adjusting links to ensure a perfect fit, I’m proud to have laser focus and expertise.
Grail:
Rolex Datejust is a good, reliable watch. As beautiful and unique as some of the other watches we see, they just aren’t what I want. I want a tool that will reliably stay on my wrist for years to come, and I prefer attainable goals.
The world should know:
I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands. I was lucky enough to have a jewelry making class in high school that allowed me to begin learning the skills I still use today. In 2011 received my BFA with a concentration in metalsmithing and jewelry making from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Before joining the European Watch Company restoration team I spent 8 years as a goldsmith at a small Cape Cod jewelry store. I’ve enjoyed the challenges and rewards of working on such precise pieces and the new techniques and skills I continue to develop in the restoration department.
