Each week, EWC will be gathering horological industry news, cultural conversations and moments surrounding our favorite topic: timepieces. Happy Friday; here’s what’s on our watch.

Fresh To Market

New to market this week, we have a trio of brands unveiling new models.

First up, TAG Heuer introduced three takes on its iconic Monaco in honor of the big racing weekend (the Indy 500 and, of course, the Monaco Grand Prix, both of which happened last weekend). The beloved collection expands with the Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch, Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph 2025, and Monaco x Gulf.

From land to air, Breitling released an out-of-this-world limited edition of its classic Navitimer to celebrate 100 years since the birth of the American spaceflight pioneer, Scott Carpenter. The Navitimer Cosmonaute pays homage to the first Swiss wristwatch in space worn by Carpenter during the Mercury-Atlas 7 mission in 1962.

Hublot brings us back down to earth with the third edition of its Concrete Jungle series, following the 2016 Big Bang and the 2020 Classic Fusion. The Big Bang Meca-10 Concrete Jungle is an ode to the brand’s Fifth Avenue Boutique in the heart of New York City. In typical Hublot fashion, the watch is quite literally crafted from the same material as the boutique’s facade.

Speaking of Hublot, one of the brand’s most esteemed ambassadors, Novak Djokovic, has once again made history. Over the weekend, he smashed his 100th career title in Geneva. On the heels of his 38th birthday, the world No. 1 tennis star isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Following his Swiss victory, he headed straight to Roland Garros for the French Open in hopes of notching yet another Grand Slam title.

Did someone say French Open? The tournament is bittersweet this year as the King of Clay embraces his retirement. The former No. 1 player and 14-French Open title holder Rafael Nadal was honored with a farewell ceremony. For the occasion he, of course, sported one of his own collaborative timepieces: the Richard Mille RM 27-05 Manual Winding Flying Tourbillon Rafael Nadal watch.

Argulably the sexiest race on the calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix was a lavish display of drool-worthy watches from the legendary Jackie Stewart and his Rolex Daytona Le Mans to watch industry royalty Bernard Arnault and his Louis Vuitton Tambour. In addition, Patrick Dempsy rocked the aforementioned TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf. Of course, it wouldn’t be a sporting event without Richard Mille’s wrist presence. Mark Cavendish opted for the bold RM 65-01 while Lando Norris celebrated his victory in the white ceramic RM 72-01.

Houston, We Have A Teaser

The industry is buzzing after Omega CEO Raynald Aeschlimann teased a new MoonSwatch collab in a roundtable discussion during a tour of the brand’s Bien headquarters to celebrate 60 years working with NASA. However, his teaser wasn’t quite what you’d expect. When asked whether there are any new Swatch collaborations coming, he answered affirmatively but clarified it wouldn’t be with Omega. Now, speculation is brewing as to who the next mashup will be.
